Since the opera house, now the Alte Oper, was built almost 150 years ago, people and companies have been generous and passionate supporters of the theatre. They have contributed to its construction, reconstruction and continued existence. They have played their part in the theatre's success story as a temple of art, a stage for stars, a building steeped in tradition and a landmark, but also as a dream factory, a concert laboratory, a field of experimentation and a meeting place.

It was thanks to the financial and moral commitment of Frankfurt's bourgeoisie that the opera house was built in 1880. And the reconstruction of the building, destroyed in the Second World War, as a concert and congress centre would have been unthinkable without the initiative and support of citizens and companies. And today? Once again, it is renowned sponsors, foundations and private individuals who share our passion and have made a conscious decision to assume social responsibility. Together with them, the Alte Oper continues to give new impetus to the cultural life of the city.
