Programme
Around 50 concerts in more than 40 years: A proud record documents the close connection between Christian Zacharias and Frankfurt's concert life. In February 1982 - just a few months after the reopening of the opera house - Zacharias sat at the grand piano on the stage of the Great Hall of the Alte Oper for the first time, together with the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra. Still at the beginning of his career at the time, he has long since established himself as a world-class pianist and conductor. He can confidently be described as an exceptional artist, because Zacharias is not only an outstanding pianist, but also a musical thinker and narrator. He is someone who looks intensively behind the notes and between the lines. He is fascinated by the connections and knows how to convey them. Who pays as much care and attention to the smallest detail as he does to the big picture.
But now it's time to draw a line under it: Zacharias will be our guest one last time with a recital. As part of his farewell tour as a soloist in the 2024/25 season, he will once again bring one of his cleverly thought-out programmes to the Mozart Saal, highlighting his in-depth exploration of the repertoire of German-Austrian classical and Romantic music as well as his Francophile streak and his desire for surprising elective affinities.
