Opera Classica Europa welcomes the New Year at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and performs the most beautiful melodies from opera and operetta, including ‘Dein ist mein ganzes Herz’, ‘Lippen schweigen’, ‘Das Wolgalied’, ‘Casta Diva’ and ‘Nessun Dorma’.
Big names from the world of opera such as star soprano Elena Moșuc and world-class tenor Martin Muehle, who perform at this New Year's concert, are not usually seen together on the same evening. The overall winner of the 1st Opera Singing Competition in honour of Romana Vaccaro, baritone Hongyu Chen and several other opera soloists will also be performing.
Romanian colouratura soprano Elena Moșuc is a regular guest at all the world's major opera houses. She has worked with renowned conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Christoph von Dohnányi and Gustavo Dudamel. The artist has been particularly closely associated with Zurich Opera House since the beginning of her international career. She also shone as Violetta in ‘La Traviata’ at La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian State Opera and the Arena di Verona. She also wowed audiences as Gilda in Verdi's ‘Rigoletto’ at the Vienna State Opera.
The vocal skills and dramatic intensity of the most demanding roles for tenors are a particular trademark of the German-Brazilian tenor Martin Muehle. From 2013 to 2015, he was a member of the Mannheim National Theatre ensemble, where he sang almost all the major roles by Verdi, Puccini and others. Guest performances have also taken Martin Muehle to major theatres such as the Opéra Bastille Paris, the Leipzig Opera, the Teatro Municipial do Rio de Janeiro and the Teatro Municipal São Paulo.
