‘Rembrandts Amsterdam. Goldene Zeiten?’ is the title of the exhibition that the Städel Museum is presenting from 27 November 2024 to 23 March 2025. The focus is on the outstanding portrait art of Rembrandt and his contemporaries. The exhibition also critically scrutinises the painting of the so-called ‘Golden Age’ in the Netherlands, as the economic and cultural prosperity of the 17th century was based on an aggressive trade policy. The Dutch flautist Lucie Horsch and her musician partner Thomas Dunford complement the exhibition's differentiated view by tracing the lines of development of Dutch music and illuminating its roots, its highlights and its influences on composers from the German, French and Italian cultural areas.
