She deliberately dispensed with flash, lamps and tripods, and she was never interested in digital photography either: the most important basis for the success of photojournalist Barbara Klemm was a steady hand, a good eye and, above all, a feel for the moment and the composition of the scene. With these tools, the Frankfurt native made a name for herself as an astute observer of local, national and international events over six decades. Salon Frankfurt introduces the long-time photographer of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in person on the podium and shows some of her views of the city. Jazz pianist Michael Wollny will draw inspiration from these images: He improvises to the selected images, lending the black-and-white motifs their own colourfulness.
