For many children, it is an overwhelming moment when they enter the Great Hall of the Alte Oper for the first time and realise the dimensions of this concert hall. But actually, of course, it's all about the music on this date! With the ‘Symphonic up close!’ format, the Alte Oper aims to convey to children the power of an orchestral tutti and the magic of pianissimo passages, the memorability of musical themes and the many colours of a large orchestra.
The concert is aimed at second to fourth grade classes at Frankfurt primary schools and is linked to a compulsory preparatory training programme for the participating teachers. Afterwards, the teachers take the approaches to the work taught there into their classes and prepare the pupils for the concert visit - for the music to be heard, but also for how the children themselves can actively participate in the musical events.
