Learning by doing: in the TONALi project, young people become concert managers. The Alte Oper leaves the organisation of a classical concert to school pupils - but not without providing the young people with professional support. The Hamburg-based cultural programme TONALi Tour specialises in such practical projects and is happy to bring its expertise to Frankfurt.
No, the participants in the TONALi project don't have to pick up an instrument themselves - three excellent young musicians take on this role. However, the pupils are responsible for everything else that needs to be done for a successful concert, guided directly by the Hamburg TONALi experts. The project includes the organisation of a solo concert, which one of the ensemble members plays at school, as well as a final concert with the entire piano trio at the Alte Oper. Interested classes (from year nine) can apply for the limited workshop places - tickets for the final concert (for young people from year five) are available separately.
