Music of the World

For the four concerts in the "Music of the World" series, the sails are set for a voyage of sound across the Indian Ocean to Africa and Asia - with stopovers on the islands of Madagascar and La Réunion. Seafarers and traders have been traveling these routes for centuries, taking not only spices and goods, but also their songs and instruments to the other side of the world. Many colonial relics remind us that the tropical beauty of the landscapes and music also has a darker side, which can still be felt today.
