VOKALMUSIK AUS DEM SÜDÖSTLICHEN AFRIKA

Music brought the a cappella formation Insingizi from Zimbabwe to Austria at the end of the 1990s, where they met the classical pianist Roland Guggenbichler. Together they are MoZuluArt: Zulu Music Meets Mozart! Since then, they have been playing and singing their own compositions, musically inspired by Mozart and other works of Western classical music, as well as adaptations of traditional African songs, sung and written in Ndebele, one of the 16 languages spoken in Zimbabwe. MoZuluArt brings the common sound world that has grown over the years to the point: with ease, but also great musical precision, with intellectual power, but also emotional devotion, the quartet shows that classical and African music are deeply connected.
