Programme
The Senckenberg Nature Museum is home to silent witnesses of our diverse animal and plant world. This realm, from Archaeopterix to Tyrannosaurus Rex, will be brought to life in the first of two away games. Music will take you from the entrance area through the large dinosaur hall and down into the world of the deep sea. Surrounded by the gigantic fin whale and his colleagues, the French flautist Joséphine Olech and her musician partners Georgs Crumbs perform ‘Vox Balaenae’, a melodious reminiscence of the humpback whales. According to the American composer, the songs of the humpback whale are ultimately ‘themselves already a highly developed “artistic” product: you can hear phrase structures, high and low points and even a sense of musical form!’. The subsequent lecture will provide further illuminating insights into the world of whales.
