Conclusion and discussion with the musicians‘I believe that no art is apolitical,’ said Olga Neuwirth in 2022 at the award ceremony for the coveted Ernst von Siemens Music Prize. She has definitely given contemporary music a more diverse face, partly because she intervenes, names grievances and takes a stand. Two of her works provide exciting insights into her creative output: the 2007 trumpet concerto ‘... miramondo multiplo ...’, which takes us into the “wonderland” of musical memories with echoes of Miles Davis, Mahler and Handel, and the blues oratorio “Eleanor”, which uses texts by Martin Luther King and others to protest against racism and oppression. The three young composers Sasha J. Blondeau from France, Aquiles Lázaro from Mexico and Margareta Ferek-Petrić from Croatia complete the concert programme with their very own artistic positions.
