Performers
Programme
A programme bursting with temperament and radiant orchestral colours. Hector Berlioz, the master of orchestration, will perform twice when the London Symphony Orchestra makes a guest appearance at the Alte Oper in a new era: Sir Antonio Pappano was the orchestra's chief conductor designate for one season and will finally take up his post at the head of the tradition-steeped British orchestra in the 2024/25 season. He will then not only bring Berlioz's swashbuckling overture ‘Le Corsaire’ to the Great Hall with his Londoners, but will also have his Symphonie fantastique tell its episodes from the life of an artist between passion, country life and witches' sabbaths. The London Symphony Orchestra and Pappano thus frame Lisa Batiashvili's view of Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto, in which the Viennese classicist spares neither beautiful sound nor tongue-in-cheek surprise effects.
After the concert, we would like to celebrate the gradual end of the season with you and invite you to enjoy a free drink. Enjoy the view of the city from the terrace of the Opéra restaurant!
