Conclusion and discussion with the musiciansWhen you see Edoardo Grieco, Francesco Massimino and Lorenzo Nguyen on the podium together for the first time, it is hard to believe that these three young musicians have been playing together in their Trio Chagall formation for more than ten years. Anyone hearing them for the first time, however, immediately realises that three outstanding talents have grown together over the years to form a close musical unit. It is not without reason that the trio, which was founded in Italy and is based in Basel, has won important prizes at international competitions in recent years. The ensemble has named itself after the painter Marc Chagall, whose skilful use of expressive, powerful colours the three have taken as a model for their musical work. In their first performance at the Alte Oper, they exhaust the tonal possibilities of their instruments in Wolfgang Rihm's Fremde Szene III before turning their attention to Ravel and Mendelssohn.
