Rich sounds from the islands of the Indian Ocean come together: music from Madagascar is the common source of inspiration for Erick Manana, one of the most important songwriters on Africa's largest island, and Jenny Fuhr, a trained violinist and flautist who has spent years researching and travelling extensively on the island. They present tradition-conscious and cosmopolitan poetic soundscapes of today's Madagascar: lyrical songs from the highlands, music from the capital Antananarivo and tropical grooves. With Oriane Lacaille, music from the island of La Réunion takes centre stage. Oriane Lacaille's father was the accordionist René Lacaille, one of the innovators of the island's maloya and sega rhythms in the 1970s. His daughter Oriane continues the family tradition, which was forbidden to women in the generations before her, and confidently brings Creole sounds to special bloom.
