She is one of the most remarkable female figures in European history: Empress Elisabeth of Austria. In 1992, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien staged ELISABETH, the musical written by Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay about Elisabeth's life and suffering, for the first time in Vienna. It is now regarded as the most successful German-language musical of all time. The new spectacular open-air production in the Court of Honour at Schönbrunn Palace has already thrilled over 100,000 spectators in recent years. Now, for the first time in Germany, this version can also be admired in a large theatre version.
